Family Abuse Center

Rural Transportation

Picking up new clients from the counties they serve (Hill, Freestone, Ellis, Bosque, Limestone, Navarro, and Falls). Drivers must be available from 8am-5pm M-F and on-call shifts. Must have a vehicle.

Graphic Designer

Help update posters and miscellaneous materials used by the center. This will be on an as needed basis and can be done any time.

Boys & Girls Club

"Power Hour" Tutors

Volunteers needed to tutor kids in the after school program. Times needed are Mon-Thurs 3:15-4:30pm.

Jesus Said Love

Alliance Partner

Offer support and friendship to Access Participants, assist with resume building, job skill training, and utilizing community resources and programs. Assist with finding solutions for transportation if bus or other options are not available. Advocate for Access Participants in the community regarding potential job opportunities. Looking for 14-20 women who are willing to commit 2-4 hours per week.

Babysitting Team

Offer childcare to Access Participants and graduates. Choose your availability based on your convenience. 10 women are needed and should fill out the volunteer application at www.jesussaidlove.com

Security Team

Drive Club Team to the clubs, form relationships with bouncers, managers, and other club staff in the parking lot during outreaches. Looking for 2-3 men that can commit 3-6 hours per month. Please fill out a volunteer form at www.jesussaidlove.com

Prayer Team

Volunteers will come to prayer meetings during outreach (once per month) and pray throughout the month for the JSL ministry. 20 men/women are needed. To sign up, fill out a volunteer form at www.jesussaidlove.com

Club Team

Participate in monthly club outreach, meet consistently with 2-3 Potential Team Leader’s (PTL) outside of outreaches, assist PTL’s when they express various needs. 3-4 women are needed that can commit 6-8 hours per month. Fill out volunteer form at www.jesussaidlove.com

Caritas

Pantry Volunteer

Volunteers are needed M-F 8am-4pm to work in the food pantry and help load food.

Thrift Store Warehouse Volunteer

Volunteers are needed M-Sat 10am-4pm to sort donations and help prepare them for sale.

The Arc of McLennan County

Kids After School Program

Volunteers will interact with kids, such as read to them. Some of the children are nonverbal and there are usually about 6 per day. Volunteers are needed Mon-Fri 4-5:30pm.

Adult Group Meeting

Volunteers will hang out with the adults while they do an activity. They are needed from 6-7pm on the third Tuesday of the month.

Adult Day Care

Volunteers will interact with adults doing arts & crafts, etc. Most are verbal and higher level than the kids in the after school program. Times needed are Mon-Fri 10am-3pm.

Adult Group Community Outing

Volunteers will attend outings such as going to the zoo, eating out, etc. This usually falls on the third Saturday of the month.

The Shepherd's Heart

Stocker

Stock the food pantry Mon-Wed 8am-noon. Up to 10 volunteers are needed weekly.

Distributers

Distribute food from the pantry to the people and families that come. 3 volunteers are needed every Thursday from noon-6pm (noon-3pm and 3-6pm shifts).

Resale Store Workers

Receive donations and organize the store. 3-4 volunteers are needed daily Mon-Sat 9am-6pm.

CASA of McLennan County

Court Appointed Special Advocate

Volunteer to be a court appointed advocate for abused or neglected children. Deal with people involved in the child’s daily life, spend a significant amount of time with the child, report information to the judge, advocate for the child’s needs while in the foster care system until they are in a permanent home. One year commitment (average length of CPS case), 10-15 hours per month. Volunteers must be over the age of 21, must be able to communicate both orally and verbally, will participate in an in-depth screening and training process, and must be able to pass a criminal and CPS history background check. Christian Women's Job Corps

GED Tutoring

Provide tutoring one-on-one or in small groups. Volunteers will help clients practice on basic classes (English, Language Arts, Social Studies, etc.). Needed Tues & Thurs 6-9pm.

Care Net Pregnancy Center

Mover

Provide manual labor and transportation (truck and sometimes trailer) to move guesthouse graduates and their belongings to their new homes. 1-2 volunteers are needed and times will vary.

Prayers

Pray with clients or guesthouse residents following a counseling session or class. No limit to the number of volunteers needed, times available are Thursdays 9am-5pm, Mondays 9am-8pm, and Tues-Fri 9am-5pm.

Childcare Workers

Provide childcare for moms as they attend classes at Care Net Facilities, assist with structured play for toddlers and care for infants. Times needed are Mon-Fri 9:30am-noon and there is no limit to the number of volunteers needed.

Project Leaders

Organize and lead special events in the center, in the community for volunteers, fundraisers, or other activities. Times will vary.

Teachers

Provide counsel, support, and encouragement to those initially facing an unplanned pregnancy. 1-10 volunteers are needed Mon-Fri 9am-5pm.

Handyman

Provide general repairs, touch up paint, change lightbulbs, basic plumbing, provide truck to move boxes back and forth between centers or to offsite locations. 1-4 volunteers are needed and times will vary.

Babysitters

Provide onsite babysitting for moms that live in the guesthouse in the evenings so they can get away or attend events. 1-4 volunteers are needed in the evenings after 5:00pm or on weekends.

Graphic/Web Designers

Provide creative and web design for campaigns, newsletters, and postcards about fundraisers or promotional pieces. Times will vary.

Mailroom Clerk

Fold statements and letters, stuff envelopes, print off mailing labels and process invitations for events and classes throughout the year. 1-10 volunteers are needed Mon-Fri 9am-5pm.

Mentors

Provide counsel, support, and encouragement to those initially facing an unplanned pregnancy. 1-10 volunteers are needed Mon-Fri 9am-5pm.

"Other Side of Waco Tour"

Children's Program (after school)

Assist Director in fulfilling planned programs, actively involved with mentoring/tutoring and relationship building. 2 hour per week commitment is required. Site #1 “The Rock” is open Mon-Thurs 3-6pm and Site #2 “The Branch” is open Tues/Thurs from 3:30-5pm.

Youth Program

Assist Director in fulfilling program planning, mentorship, small groups, chaperoning, etc. Volunteers needed Mon-Thurs 4:30-6:30pm.

Youth Program After School (meal service)

Assist Director in preparing and serving meals, clean kitchen and meal room. Volunteers are needed Mon-Thurs from 3:30-4:30pm (snack) and 4:30-6:30pm (dinner).

Urban Melodies

Provide instrument instruction for guitar or piano. Volunteers must commit 1 hour per week from Mon-Thurs 3:45-6pm.

Urban Expressions Visual Arts Program

Assist and encourage all participants (children & teens) who are engaged in specific expression sessions. Times will vary for different age groups.

Meyer Center Kitchen

Help staff with serving (not preparing) the breakfast, fellowship with shelter participants during the breakfast and bible study. Times are Mon-Thurs & Saturday 6-7:30am.

Meyer Center MPowerment

Help participants with computer operations, job searching, and resume writing. Times are Mon-Fri 9am-noon.

My Brother's Keeper (Chapel/Devotional hour)

This is an overnight shelter for male and female adults (no children or pets). Volunteers will provide chapel service with participants through bible reading/study, discussions, singing, praying, sharing, and creativity. Volunteers are welcome to bring refreshments. Times are 7-7:45pm nightly.

Work Groups

General assistance with the groups who are scheduled for an inner-city experience through Mission Waco (logistics/setup, supervising groups for maintenance/construction or cleaning, or special projects). Times are TBD.

Mission World (Public Relations)

Help with office/clerical tasks and mail-outs. Times are TBD.

Fair Trade Market

Customer services, sales, help in organizing and displaying merchandise. Times are Tuesdays and Fridays 11am-1pm.

Seasonal Projects

Help in preparations and/or store operations. Times are TBD.

Jubilee Food Market

Office: data entry, knowledgable in excel and PDF, Floor: stocker. Contact office for times.

R.E.A.P. (Renewable Energy & Agriculture Project)

10am-6pm Mon-Sun. Familiarity with horticulture is preferred but not required, director will train volunteers.

Work Groups

Kid's Cafe

Assist with meals, interact with children during mealtime, and clean cafeteria. Volunteers needed Mon-Thurs 4-6pm.

King's Club

Assist in group games & bible study at low-income housing complexes as assigned by Director. This is an “ongoing program placement” and the “group” option must be preauthorized by the Director. Volunteers are needed Saturday mornings from 10am-noon.

Youth VolunTEENs (Service Team Coordinator)

Assist Director in coordinating and supervising youth service team. Volunteers needed Fridays 3:30-6pm and Saturdays 10am-12pm.

Jubilee Theatre Performing Arts & Productions

Interact with children/teens in our creative/performing arts programs, help with performances, productions (off stage), building sets, and sound assistance (if experienced). Time frame is TBD.

Urban Movements

Assistant teachers are needed for music/movement classes, lead or assist teachers for hip-hop classes. Volunteers must commit 1 hour per week from Mon-Thurs 3:45-6pm.

Meyer Center

Casual interaction with the public, with Mission Waco participants, and the homeless. Perform office tasks as requested by the Director or supervisor. Times available are Mon-Thurs 6:30am-1pm & 4-5pm, Fridays 7-11:30am, and Saturdays 6:30-10am.

Friday Morning Breakfast

Fellowship with the public, clean up facility following breakfast, possibly assist in serving breakfast (breakfast not provided to volunteers). Fridays from 6-8am (1.5-2 hour commitment).

My Brother's Keeper (Shelter)

This is an overnight shelter for male and female adults (no children or pets). Assist Mission Waco Monitor with the shelter check-in procedures. Times are 6-7pm nightly.

Health Clinic

Help with checking in and triaging patients, assist with administrative tasks as directed, internships available to those who have previously volunteered, limited placements on the roster. Times are Tues & Thurs 4-7pm. Pre-med/nursing, pre-dental or social services are preferred. 

World Cup Cafe

Greet and seat customers, take orders, serve and clean tables. A Food Handlers certificate is required and volunteers are not allowed to accept tips. Times needed are 11am-1pm Mon or Wed and 8-11am Saturdays.

The Clothesline

Sort, steam, display merchandise, general customer assistance, accepting afternoon donations. Times are as needed (determined by manager).

Voucher Center (Social Services)

Receiving/sorting all donations, assist participants as needed, arranging/stocking. Warehouse environment (no temp control) and times needed are Tues, Wed, and Thurs 8-10am.

Property Maintenance

Flexible placement, helping with indoor/outdoor facility upkeep as determined by manager. This is on an as needed basis.

"On Call"

Mail-outs, clerical/reception, project related, may also be an unscheduled or one-time request. This is on an as needed basis.
