Our third Charity Champion of 2020 is the Dr Pepper Museum and Free Enterprise Institute. This iconic Waco museum has drawn locals and tourists alike since opening its doors in the early 90s, but they’re more than just a museum. The Free Enterprise Institute side of the organization uses the story of Dr Pepper and the soda industry to illustrate how anyone with a good idea can start a business.

Dr Pepper is the oldest major soft drink in America. It was invited in Waco in by Dr. Charles Alderton at the Old Corner Drug Store in 1885. Learn more about the Dr Pepper Museum and Free Enterprise Institute on their website.

Charity Champions Leadership Development Training – March 11th, 2020

Even on spring break, we had over 80 people show up for our second Leadership Development Training session. This session was focused on mastering the practices of empowering leaders. With our Leadership Development Trainings anyone who has been recognized as a Charity Champion is welcome to attend these events and we love seeing new organizations all the way to organizations that have been with us from the beginning.

Recognizing all 36 Charity Champions!

Gameday Podcast:

The Voice of the Bears John Morris talks with 360 Solutions Founder and CEO Chip Wilson about the origins of the Charity Champions program. Chip was live with John ahead of Baylor’s game against Texas where we honored all 36 Charity Champions.

Instead of recognizing just one Charity Champion at this week’s Baylor Football game, TFNB Your Bank For Life and 360 Solutions invited all 36 Charity Champions back on the field to spotlight the great work they are doing in the community. Have a nonprofit you think needs recognition? Nominate them for next season!

Care Net hosted Tim Tebow as guest speaker at their annual “Celebrate Life” Banquet. The annual event is a fundraiser for the nonprofit. TFNB Your Bank For Life also supported the event as top sponsor.

Since 2004, the Care Net Pregnancy Center of Central Texas has served over 2,600 clients each year for pregnancy testing. They listen to the concerns of the women they serve, provide accurate and factual information about all of their pregnancy choices, and provide compassionate care.

Tim Tebow’s story made him a great choice to speak at the event: Tim’s mother became pregnant with him while living in the Philippines as a missionary. She contracted amoebic dysentery through contaminated drinking water. Her doctor told her the medication she was on would damage the fetus and abortion was the best course of action. She refused and Tim Tebow went on to win the Heisman trophy, play in the NFL, and now play baseball professionally for the New York Mets.

The Season 5 Posters Are Here!

Every year we create a commemorative poster to honor our six new Champions. We then present them with a framed copy for their office. Representatives from the Men of Color Success Initiative and Restoration Gateway stopped by our office this week to pick up their posters.

You can see the new poster up close and personal at the Hippodrome. It hangs there all year long right next to your favorite movie posters!

Desmond- The Arc of McLennan County

“We just hold him. The tears will start coming and it’s like he’s coming apart from the inside out and he can’t help himself and he needs you to hold him in.

“Desmond seems very, very intelligent to me. Very intelligent. I think if we can ever get past those behaviors, we’re going to find a genius there.

“When Desmond is happy, it’s beautiful.”

-Brandy Abel Clark, Staff Member at The Arc of McLennan County

Desmond is a client of The Arc of McLennan County. The Arc helps children and adults with disabilities live life to the fullest. They’re one of our 24 Charity Champions.

Do you know a nonprofit that deserves to have their story told? Nominate them for our 2018 season before June 30th.

Leadership Development Graduation!

Congratulations to Jesus Said Love, The Arc of McLennan County, Nurse-Family Partnership, Christian Women’s Job Corps, and Shepherd’s Heart on graduation from our 360 Solutions Leadership Development Sessions.

Each year, TFNB Your Bank for Life and 360 Solutions, a business consulting organization in Waco, Texas, provide leadership development for all 24 of our Charity Champions free of charge. This kind of training is something most charities can’t afford. It’s just one way we give back to our Charity Champions.

Last Session of the Year and Graduation

It’s almost time for the last Leadership Development session of the year! This session will be a bit different than usual as our 2017 Charity Champions will be graduating. We encourage our winners to bring their entire staff for this special occasion.

This month, 360 Solutions‘ CEO Chip Wilson will cover Emotional Intelligence. Emotionally competent people exude self-confidence, which makes them good leaders and active team players. They maintain an optimistic outlook on life which helps them overcome obstacles.

Nominations for the 2018 season end June 30th so don’t miss out on nominating your favorite charity!
